we believe better meat starts with better standards.

We started Spence Fields in 2021 with one goal — to raise better pigs and better food.

After seven years working for one of the largest pork producers in the country, Damien saw firsthand how the system worked. It was efficient, sure — but it left something behind. We didn’t want more pigs. We wanted better pigs. Ones raised in a way that respected the animal, the land, and the people at the table.

So, we built something different.

At Spence Fields, our pigs live the way pigs should — outside on pasture and in the woods, rooting, running, and soaking up the sun. No confinement barns. No added hormones. No antibiotics. Just clean farming and honest work that shows up where it matters most — in the flavor.

We handle every step right here, from farrow to finish. That means every pig born on this farm is raised and cared for by us, start to finish. It’s a hands-on process that keeps us connected to every detail — and it’s what makes our pork stand out.

We’re proud to call Gates County home, and even prouder to feed the people who make this community what it is. You’ll find us at the Edenton Farmers Market, at Sunbury Boutique, and on restaurant menus that care where their ingredients come from.

Because at the end of the day, good food starts with how it’s raised — and we’re here to make sure it’s done right.

🌿 Pasture-Raised, Always
Our pigs live outside year-round — rooting, running, and wallowing like they’re meant to.

🐖 Farrow to Finish
We raise every pig from birth to market right here on the farm, keeping full control over care, feed, and quality.

🌾 Clean Farming
No antibiotics. No added hormones. Just honest, healthy practices that put flavor first.

🔥 Better Taste, Naturally
Sunshine, movement, and good feed make for pork that’s richer, juicier, and full of real flavor.
